Early Childhood Care for Two-Year Olds
Our early childhood care for Two-Year Olds expands on the foundation established in the toddler program. Our “Jellyfish” are introduced to more routine and structure through activities and daily schedules. Your child will build their vocabulary, learn functional numerical skills and will be encouraged to use simple reasoning to explain everyday occurrences. Our daily activities continue to reinforce age-appropriate social development.
Children build vocabulary by discussing stories that are read to them and begin to understand simple directions.
Children in this age group will begin to explore number sets, experiment with textures, sort by colors and start building reasoning skills.
This is when teachers begin encouraging independence with students as children learn to verbalize their wants and desires. It is at this point in their lives that they begin to learn about taking turns.
As motor coordination improves, children begin to develop ball handling skills, as well as body movement, and they are better equipped to manipulate smaller objects.
In concert with developing little personalities, during this stage children start playing toy instruments, create multi-sensory art and engage in “pretend” play.
Now two years old, children are better equipped to explore texture and speed, while also identifying community helpers and members of their immediate family.
